2008-08-13 - 5:55 p.m. Minus Two and Counting Getting ready to go to California on Friday with the family. First time in 5 years we've flown that far with all three kids. OK so that just goes to show what a really lazy person I am, but honestly, haven't you ever approached your departure gate for a long flight, seen a family with several, shall we say lively, children and thought "oh please, don't be sitting near me..." Well that's my family, and we'll be on the 11 hour flight to San Francisco, and believe me, my kids will be bugging me much more than they bug you. You will not be woken up at 3am the next morning because the kids have crazy jet lag. I'm thinking that maybe it's time to do some packing. Got the suitcases down from the loft...haven't yet figured out how many tops and bottoms to ask each child for...trying to decide how often I can use my sister's washing machine without driving her crazy. See that's the real questionmark hanging over this holiday. We're staying with my sister and her family - first at their lovely house in SF and second at their even lovelier beach house an hour north of SF. But my sister is easily driven crazy, although she will die first before admitting it. The game is to guess correctly what will drive her crazy and then do the other thing. This is a hard game to play. I don't think I have ever been successful. I should add that as a child I derived great joy in playing this game as badly as possible. I should also say that she has never forgotten... So it is off for family packing, after dinner and baths. leave a note
